6 Wire Stepper Motor Wiring Diagram

By | January 30, 2018

The wiring diagram of a six-wire stepper motor can be a bit intimidating. If you’re looking to power up a stepper motor, you need to make sure that all the wires are correctly connected to the right components. But don’t worry – understanding a 6 wire stepper motor wiring diagram is easier than you might think.

To begin with, there are two basic types of stepper motors – bipolar and unipolar. Bipolar stepper motors have two windings per phase while unipolar steppers have one winding per phase. Both types require different wiring techniques.

The wiring diagram for a six-wire stepper motor will depend on what type of motor you have. Generally speaking, a six-wire stepper motor contains two windings per phase and must be wired in series. To do this, the two windings must be connected in parallel so that the voltage is doubled.

Wiring a six-wire stepper motor is relatively straightforward. An inverter (or driver) is needed to control the motor’s rotation and direction. In most cases, there is a specific motor driver board designed specifically for your particular motor.

Simply connect the positive and negative power supply leads from the motor driver board to the stepper’s wires. The other four wires should be connected to the four output terminals on the motor driver board, and then you’re ready to go!

By following a six-wire stepper motor wiring diagram, you’ll be able to successfully power up your motor. Once wired, you can control it via an inverter or motor driver, depending on the particular type of motor you have. With your motor up and running, you can now move forward with your project's further development.
