Circuit Breaker Control Schematic

By | September 13, 2017

Circuit breakers can be incredibly useful pieces of equipment, playing an important role in the safe operation of various electrical systems. While these devices are commonplace, it’s also important to understand circuit breaker control schematic for full system protection.

A circuit breaker control schematic is a diagram that shows the components of a circuit breaker as well as how they are connected to each other. Circuit breakers are designed to protect electric systems from damage due to overload or short-circuiting. They provide a highly effective way of switching off the power when there is an overcurrent, or current that exceeds the set limit.

When looking at a circuit breaker control schematic, it’s important to note all the parts included. This diagram typically includes the main breaker contactor, motor contactor, relay coils, and push buttons. The contactor is the most important part of the circuit breaker as this is responsible for closing and opening the contacts of the breaker. Motor contactors help to provide motor overcurrent protection by automatically locking out the breaker. Relay coils are necessary to ensure that the contactors move as intended. Lastly, the push buttons are what allow you to manually open and close the breaker contact points.

Beyond the typical components, additional protection elements can be added to a circuit breaker control schematic to increase its effectiveness. These additional pieces of equipment may include thermal overload relays, fuses, phase switches, and variable frequency drives.

Having a strong understanding of the components involved in a circuit breaker control schematic is essential for safety and efficient operation. A basic understanding of the structure will help you operate it correctly and make sure it provides the necessary protection to your electrical systems.
